Yesterday, March 31, 2024, saw the resumption of a direct flight to Tirupati from Kolhapur after a break of three and a half months. This was a remarkable day for the passengers.
Before, there was an airline that decided to launch it in both cities but stopped it shortly. Nevertheless, travelers have been eagerly anticipating the return of flight links between Tirupati and Kolhapur with enthusiasm due to StarAir’s intervention.
This direct flight leaves for Tirupati from Kolhapur three times every week, i.e. on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On these days, at 11 a.m., the plane will take-off from Kolhapur airport just like other airline planes, and by afternoon, expect to land in Tirupati. The return flight is expected to leave around 12:35 p.m., arriving in Kolhapur by 1:45 p.m.
A localite, Aditya Mohite, revealed that he liked how convenient this direct flight would now be, especially for those on pilgrimages to Balaji Temple at Tirupati. He pointed out how it replaces train travel as a more comfortable way of reaching one’s destination.
StarAir Company manager Nandkumar Gaurav has joyfully declared the beginning of the flight from the new terminal building at Kolhapur Airport. He expressed his pleasure with the response from travelers, which saw 80% of April bookings already taken up.
Nevertheless, because of the short runway, this flight can take only 45 passengers instead of its full capacity of 50. There is no doubt that this move will greatly enhance tourism prospects between the two cities, resulting in an interesting twist for both tourists and locals.
